ASEAN League round 1 best performance: Will Artino (by Interperformances)- November 24, 2019
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 20 rebounds, while his team edged out Fubon Braves (#4, 1-1) 91-90. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Thanks to this victory WM Dragons moved-up to the 2nd position in ASEAN League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and WM Dragons won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Artino turned to be WM Dragons' top player in his first season with the team. Former Creighton University star has very solid stats this year. Artino is in league's top in points (3rd best: 25.0ppg) and averages impressive 3.0bpg and 66.7% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old Chen Cai (205-C-93) of Zhuhai. Cai had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Zhuhai lost that game 100-117 to Macau (1-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Cai is well-known at Zhuhai and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 32.0ppg (#1). He also registered 10.0 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was American swingman Kenny Manigault (196-G/F-91) of Macau (#3). Manigault got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He went also for ten rebounds . He was a key player of Macau, leading his team to a 117-100 easy win against Zhuhai (#9, 0-1). Macau needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Manigault has a great season in ASEAN League. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 32.0ppg (2nd best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Charles Garcia (208-F-88) of Fubon Braves - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Amir Bell (193-G-96) of WM Dragons - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists 6. Mikh McKinney (184-G-92) of Macau - 23 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists 7. Brandon Edwards (198-F-91) of Macau - 18 points and 20 rebounds 8. Chih-Chieh Lin (192-G-82) of Fubon Braves - 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
